How can I edit text in a clipart image?

I publish an in-house newsletter for a retirement home
in Word and/or WordPerfect.
Often the text is too small for elders to read.

You can always superimpose a text box (see your Drawing toolbar) over the image, and type in your own text.

You can’t. Text in a graphic is actually embedded into the graphic. The text itself is actually a graphic representation of the selected font.

The only way to fix it would be to get the original source file of the graphic, and hope that it’s a layered graphic format that allows you to adjust that specific part. Then you could adjust the text or replace it with a different font or color.

You could create your own graphics. If you have the clipart file *without* the text, you can use a free graphic program like GIMP to open it, then add a text layer of your own, then save it back to a format you can insert in the word file.
