A Lateral Filing Cabinet Will Hold A Lot Of Stuff

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

I love being employed in this doctor’s office. The work is continuous and the time passes quickly. In fact, it feels as if I just get started and it’s time to have a break after which it is lunch time. I make an effort to get a large amount of record keeping done in the afternoon, including updating our large lateral filing cabinet. Gradually we’re placing more and more of our records on computer software. Ultimately that will be a lot more convenient and help save all of us considerable time and space. For now, I am simply trying to learn where everything belongs and how the process works. Then I’ll be all set. lateral filing cabinet

Do You Need An Automatic Letter Opener?

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

If you get a ton of mail or happen to be the mail person for your office (like me), then it might be worth your time to consider an automatic letter opener.

Of course, not everyone or every office would need such a device, but if your office gets more than 50 pieces of mail per day (mine gets closer to 100), then an automated letter opener can save some time.

If you compare the automatic way to the amount of time it took me to open all the mail we received by hand, I am saving myself over an hour each day that I can use to do other tasks. The automatic letter opener paid for itself in less than a week in my case.

A3 Printer Options

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

Regardless of your reasons for wanting or at least considering an A3 printer probably the deciding factor will be your budget. It is still quite possible to spend many thousands of dollars on a desk top A3 such as the C9800HDN Color Led Printer which goes for a cool $8200 but there are several on the market suitable for the home office.

For instance you can get the Canon BJC-5100 for under $50 from many retailers and granted, it’s a rather large bulky printer that will require some desk rearranging on your part but the price cannot be ignored and it makes an excellent entry level for anyone wanting to to print larger copies than normal.

Book Scanners

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

Book scanning can be defined as the process of altering actual publications in to electronic digital images, electronic text, and also electronic books (e-books) via the usage of an image scanner. Electronic books are easily sent out, reproduced, and read on-screen. Frequent file formats tend to be DjVu, Tagged Image File Format (TIFF) and Portable Document Format (PDF). Optical character recognition (OCR) can be used to alter the raw pictures of a book in to ANSII or various other electronic text, which reduces the file size as well as allows the text to be reformatted, searched, or refined with other applications.

A book scanner may be manual or automatic. Within a standard commercial image
scanner, a book will be placed on a flat glass plate (or platen), after which a
light and optical array moves over the book beneath the glass. With the hands-on book scanners, the main glass plate stretches to the edge of the scanner, so that it is more convenient to line up the book’s spine. Other book scanners position a book face up within a v-shaped frame, and take a picture of a pages
from above.
