The Role That Cholesterol Lowering Foods Play

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

The presence of cholesterol in the body basically comes from two sources – the body’s own synthesis of cholesterol and the intake of food. Close to 75% of the cholesterol in the blood is synthesized by the liver and other cells in the body. The remaining 25% comes from the foods that are consumed everyday. And hence eating cholesterol lowering foods can really aid in lowering your cholesterol.

LDL cholesterol is normally produced within safe limits for most people, while some are genetically predisposed to synthesize high amounts of LDL cholesterol putting them at a higher risk of heart disease than normal people. When parents and grandparents have suffered from high LDL cholesterol that was genetically induced, the chances of the offspring inheriting the same disorder is normally high.

Famous beer pong rantings

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

Beer pong began as a game that fraternity boys played to have fun while getting hammered. People around the world now enjoy it. Also known as Beirut, beer pong is a game for two players. Each person has six cups and a ping-pong ball, all set up on a dining room table. You can also have a foldout made.

Naturally, beer is involved in beer pong, but some players use water or energy drinks when they’re practicing their throwing or serving techniques with a paddle. And yes, there are tournaments. The game sounds simple but there are a few rules and tips to remember when playing.

Whatever beverage you choose, each of the six cups need to be filled 1/3 of the way up. Two 12 oz cans should do, but keep more on standby while you set the table. As far as the cups, arrange them like a set of bowling pins (or a triangle if you have no idea what bowling is.)

When either one of the players gets their ping-pong ball in a cup, that player must drink the beverage in the cup and then remove it from the table. The cups still remaining are shifted into a different position. The game is over (or another match begins) when the last cup is taken off the beer pong tables. That’s the main idea, and the rules for beer pong as just as simple.

What is ground flax seed?

Sunday, February 14th, 2010

Well it is also called flax seed meal, and is the name given to whole flax seeds that have been put through a grinder to turn them into a rough power form. It is easy then to sprinkle them on your cereals, salads, soups etc. To buy flax seeds in their whole seed form is cheaper and you need to grind down what you need and when you need. You can buy flax in its ground form which offers convenience as you just open the packaging and sprinkle on your food but you have to use up your supply reasonable quickly because it has a short shelf life.

Where should you buy your buy flax seed from?

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

Flax seed in its various forms (flax seed, flax seed meal etc) can be kept for varying amounts of time before they go off (go rancid! – yuk!). It is not a surprise therefore people ask where can I buy flax seed? This is a good question because there is no point in buying in bulk if it is going to go off before you get a chance to eat it all.
As a general rule flax seeds in their whole seed form are going to have the longest shelf life and so buying a bulk bag is fine. Flax seed meal (a.k.a. ground flax seed) has a shortish shelf life even if stored in a dark cool place and will go rancid over a relatively short period of time. You therefore must buy flax seeds and grind them down (e.g. in a coffee grinder) as and when you need the flax seed meal if you want to buy in bulk or you need to buy small bags of flax seed meal and use it relatively quickly.

California Wines Are …

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

I have heard over and over again that some of the best wine in the world comes from California, but honestly I just do not know if I believe that. I mean it is true that some grapes grow pretty good there, but I do not think that there is any grape that grows the best there. Take the pinot noir grape for instance. It originally came from France and was imported to California, but the California Pinots are far inferior to what is produced in France. The climates are just too different … Oregon makes Pinots far superior to California’s, they can even rival what is produced in Europe. I guess the only way to really test out the California wines is to join a wine club: california wine club

Which essential fatty acid do you get in flax seed

Their are two essential fatty acids you need in your diet - they are called essential because they cannot be made by your body.
The type you get when you buy flax seed is Omega 3 oil (alpha linolenic acid). They are needed for the proper functioning of just about everything in our bodies from making cells, proper nerve function, hormone levels and functioning, making anti-inflammatory agents etc.
