How much money do Cartoon animators make in a month?
Wednesday, November 18th, 2009Just curious because this is the job I’m interested in getting when I get out of school.
Most of the traditional animation on TV is done in Korea at the moment. Character and story design are done in the states. Computer animated cartoons have a few different places..CA, AZ, TX being three of the biggest areas for it. In the beginning, new hires don’t do a lot of main character animation…you would be doing in-betweens, backgrounds and touch up work. The pay is not as high as most people think it is until you move up in the food chain and then only if you have a hit series. Most beginning animators make $30,000 a year and it is hit or miss work. If you are interested in it now, it is time to find out what qualifications certain studios are looking for , what skills are most in demand and start drumming up any info you have from contacts on new shows just starting.
