How much is the flash animator’ rate?

Saturday, January 16th, 2010

How much should I charge my client for a 40 seconds flash animation ?
How much is the flash animator’ rate?
How much a flash animator be paid for hour?
Or how much should he take for 1 second of animation, regarding that the animation includes lipsync?

Depends on your level of expertise. A beginner could ask for $50 … or an expert designer with fantastic graphic skills could ask for $1000.

Pricing always depends on what quality you can deliver and what the customer is willing to pay for.

I want to become a flash animator?

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

I am only 13 but I am quite a good drawer And I love creating flash animations with pivit stickfigure animator

what do I need to work on now.
I want to become an animator for video games or tv cartoons or cartoon movies.

The biggest benefit to you right now would be to start a life drawing sketch book. Get an array of different pens, and figure out which flow best suits you. I work in black gel pen with a refillable water color brush pen. In this book you can only draw from life. Draw as many people, objects, scenes, compositions as you can a week.
Don’t spend alot of time on each drawing. For a person spend a few minuets, (less then 5) Try to capture the gesture of the person, what they are doing, rather then what they look like. Are they bending, stretching, slouching ect.
For a composition or full scene no more then 20 minuets.
This book is about learning, not about good art. If you can’t solve a drawing problem, like a strange pose, or weird shot of an object, take the time to investigate it. go online or find some drawing reference books to better understand the problem.
Other then that just keep drawing what you love to draw and drawing what you hate to draw even more.

and infinite is not the correct answer to maximum. We’re not talking technicalities, we’re talking about math homework… BORING math homework. And if you’re thinking, "Why do you need to know about a cartoon animator?", it’s your fault for paying taxes!

Should I become a computer animator or cartoonist?

Thursday, November 12th, 2009

I want to know what the salary of a computer animator or cartoonist is and what kind of education you need.

To answer this question, you need to establish what your motivation would be.
Is it money? If so, I would bet on a career on computer animation, because you can go into cartoons on tv, to advertisements, to computer games, etc… career progression is almost unlimited in terms of which direction you want to go once you have the degree to do so.

On the other hand, a cartoonist (which I’m assuming you mean the traditional hand drawing type cartoonist), is kind of limited. Once a cartoonist, you either have a section of the newspaper dedicated to your cartoon. Work for a comic strip like DC (which is highly competitive if you are good enough) Or you’re stuck on the sidewalk doing caricatures for $10…
