What animated character does this remind you of?

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

Someone who is very funny, and very girly, the type that likes shopping and stuff, and is very nice and gets along with everybody. It has to be someone animated, but it can’t be a person. For example, don’t say something like Daphne from scooby-doo or Candace from Phineas and Ferb, it can’t be a person, even if they’re animated.

What software do I use to make an animated video?

Saturday, January 30th, 2010

I need to create a visual project for my english class and i though of making a animated video. A very basic one with stick figures and such. Does anyone know what software i can use? Any help is appreciated!

Look at AnimeStudio and AnimeStudio Pro — about half-price of Flash, and I like the Pro verison better. There is also Stickman, but I feel it is a bit overpriced. AnimeStudio has ‘bones’ which can help you animate shapes for talking or walking.

Good luck.

How long does it take to make an animated film?

Saturday, December 26th, 2009

I would like to know the average amount of time it takes to make an animated film, particularly for the Disney company, if anyone knows. If possible, please link me to a website with more information.

It widely depends on the type, how detailed or what the style of animation (each producer has a different style) It’ll also depend if it’s being based off a certain manga, and of course how long it is, the skills of the teams and their numbers, how well of a job they actually want to do…
Often times they need to work on character design and story board items-plan that out good and thorough (again, if it’s based of manga, the time frame here will be much different)
and so on and so forth.
Good animations take years to make-anywhere for 2-4 years, maybe more.
But keep this in mind; fifteen minutes or even less of a rather poor quality show, already planned out, maybe be half put together already, takes easily two weeks. And like I said, that’s poor quality, maybe even pooerer story line…

How to record something on a camera and then make it seem animated? Please read on?

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

I’ve seen it done a lot and most recently in the Assassin’s Creed short movie up on youtube. Major companies record something normally and then make it seem computer animated. It does not have to as good as in the Assassin’s creed video, but does anyone know how to do it? The best video editing program I have available is sony vegas. Is there a way to get the effect without spending thousands? Thanks.

stereo-typical animation is done at 12 frames per second, what is called in the trade as double shot because each frame of film is duplicated so that it can be projected at normal 24 frames per second at the theater. this results in a kind of jerky movement. to replicate this on video, be sure and shoot the video with the high speed shutter on to prevent motion blur. in the editor turn on the "strobe" effect and set the rate so that you get about 10 to 12 strobes per second. to get a kind of "ink and paint" look, turn on the solarization or posterization effect. almost any editor offers these 2 effects, even old fashioned analog mixers, so you shouldn’t have to pay anything for them.
