Another place to go is http://www.animationmentor.com/ this is an intensive 18 month course in Character Animation.
There are of course different focuses within the animation field. Your best bet would be to be sure that you have an interest in animation, b/c just having an interest in making alot of money won’t keep you in the job.
Having a genuine interest in the craft and the process will help you make alot of money in this field. It will keep you motivated and working long hours to get a project done, making sacrifices, buying books that aren’t even on the course book list, etc. Doctors make tons of money, but you wouldn’t catch me prescribing anything just b/c I want to make alot of money. I know my strengths and weaknesses and personally, chemistry/math aren’t included!

Be sure you are in tune with what your own personal strengths and interests are and trust me, you’ll love the job you do and as a result, the money WILL COME. Check out the happiness factor here: http://www.prlog.org/10131953-animators-are-some-of-the-happiest-workers-in-america-survey-finds.html

Another great school is Full Sail. They offer the Bachelor’s in Animation, and are regionally accredited.

SCAD is one of the best in the country and offers both Bachelor’s and Master’s options:
