Animators, I need your help! How do i make a bouncing ball with tail attached in flash cs3?

This is for a high school project and i’m desperate for some help. I’ve made the bouncing ball but i don’t know how to attach the tail besides drawing it frame by frame. It wouldn’t be so hard, except the ball is coming towards you at an angle.

I was thinking of creating the tail in two parts, and parent them together but the angle keeps throwing me off. Any ideas?
