How much does a beginner 3d gaming animator earn?

I would also like to know that-
How much will a 3d gaming animator earn if he has Diploma in 3d gaming animation, BA in psychology and has done MA in 3d gaming animation from University of technology in Australia??

Pretty good creds, man. Probably over 50k!

In Australia, if you only have a Diploma and 1 year Masters, and have no industry experience then you’ll still be starting at the bottom of the pack - approx $40-50k a year. However once you get 1-2 years industry experience and have some Game Titles to your name you’ll be able to start looking for higher paid positions up to about $80-90k. After 5 years industry experience you’ll be on $150k.

If you were in the UK I think you’d realistically only be looking at around £20k but it’s an industry that you can move quickly up the ladder if you’re good and dedicated!

In digital arts, your reel is king. If you have no reel or a very basic one you’re looking at $24k/year as an animator. Hopefully those degrees got you some stuff you can use for your reel because honestly, I couldn’t care less if you dropped out of kindergarten and did all your CG work on an Etch-a-Sketch. If your reel rocks, you’re hired and you get the big bucks.

However, if you’re looking to do more management or production coordination then those degrees start to come into play. Also, your degrees demonstrate you can focus on something, have some discipline, and all that other great stuff you learn in college besides how to work a beer tap.

Still the digital arts isn’t academia, you gotta have experience to demonstrate your chops, not just degrees. Most animation courses I know of focus on getting you a reel so it comes down to how good yours is.
