Pixar has extremely high standards so it's good that you have decided this early so you will have a head start. You need a degree in animation, and I do not believe there is a Pixar college- I have several teachers who worked there, haha. A character animator is basically an actor with knowledge of the principles of animation. I would recommend studying all kinds of animation, it will only make you a stronger artist. We use a program called Maya.
