What program to create and animate models?

i am coding a 3d first person shooter in C+ (with microsoft visual c++). i have found a few libraries and programs with animations but you have to pay for more

i have never made models before but i am extremely fast with learning. what FREE program should i use to create and animate models for guns, people etc.

i want to make the models with a lot of detail so with very good graphics, and it has to work with C++

do not suggest openGL please

for me 3ds max and 4d cinema is the best but is not free.
